Challenge of the Month Recap: Self-Praise List

This challenge ended up being about as tough as I thought it was going to be. Some days I just couldn’t think of something that wasn’t already on the list. Some days when I was in a lousy mood, I had trouble coming up with anything and started doubting certain things on my list. Other days I had no problem adding to the list because I was feeling good about myself.

I think the biggest thing I learned is that at the end of the day, I’m always me. Even if I’m feeling lousy because of something I said or did, it doesn’t make any of the good things about be any less. I’m human. And a pretty good one at that.

With no further ado, here’s my list of 31 awesome things about myself:

  1. I have beautiful blue eyes.
  2. I am dependable.
  3. I am organized.

Challenge of the Month: Self Praise

Happy New Year! It’s the time of year for new beginnings and resolutions. I don’t feel the need to make a grand list of resolutions for myself this year. I just want to continue on the journey I’m on – continue to build my endurance and strength, and to make healthy choices in every aspect of life. Throughout 2014 I made some great changes and strides towards this. But one area that has been falling behind is my self confidence.

I’m good at being down on myself. And I don’t want to be good at that anymore. So this month, I’m going to write down one compliment for myself every day. At the end of the month, I will have a concrete list of 31 awesome things about me to refer back to when I’m falling back into the pattern of dumping on myself.

Will you join me in this challenge?

December Challenge of the Month

I started taking a power yoga class at the end of October. I hadn’t done yoga steadily in years – ever since I moved out of my dad’s house. I used to take a class through my hometown’s parks and rec department and I really enjoyed it. But my new town was in the middle of nowhere with no yoga classes nearby and I wasn’t dedicated enough to keep my practice up via DVD.

So when my trainer suggested I try her new power yoga series, I was game. I was a little nervous because it had been so long and the parks and rec class was nothing like power yoga. But I thought I’d give it a try.

It only was the first or second class that I was introduced to crow pose.

Impossible!, I thought. You want me to balance how?? But after a few classes, I found that I could hold it for a few breaths. And now I want to hold it longer. Continue reading
